Bereavement

Bereavement is something that we must all experience at some stage in life. Whether expected or unexpected the loss of a loved one, a relative or an important figure in our lives, it takes considerable time and processing to help navigate the loss. To say that time heals, is too simple. Rather time accommodates and with each day that passes, the loss of that special person can become a little more bearable. Being able to move forward in life requires a supportive, caring, and empathetic form of therapy that is facilitated in a respectful manner.

DEPRESSION

Most of us, as human beings will have gone through periods in life that are more difficult than others. To that end, each one of us might suffer from mild depressive episodes that are a result of the environment we exist in. The loss of a loved one, a relationship, illness or indeed any life altering event will leave behind a range of emotions and feelings that require processing. Engaging in consistent and regular Counselling or Psychotherapy can help to alleviate the feelings associated with depression and help an individual gain a better understanding of their, thoughts feelings and emotions.

Anxiety

Anxiety is probably best described as a normal response to an abnormal situation or event that is deemed to be uncomfortable for us to endure. Anxiety can manifest itself in the form of social withdrawal or avoidance of certain situations, people, or events. In addition, anxiety can result in bodily reactions such as excessive sweating or habituated responses that develop over time. If left unattended anxious behaviour can take over and result in a diminished quality of life for person affected by it. Learning to manage your anxiety is achievable and using regular cognitive behavioural therapy, life can become more enjoyable in time.

LOW SELF ESTEEM

Low Self Esteem is something that can visit each one of us over time. Our self-esteem rests somewhere between where we perceive ourselves to be in the world and where we exist in the world. Very often the standards we set for ourselves are too high, or unachievable and it is when we cannot reach these standards, we punish ourselves and develop poor coping strategies. Very often these punishments come in the form of addiction, self-harm and other damaging behaviour which can have long term side effects if not given appropriate attention. There is much to be discovered in counselling and psychotherapy for persons who feel they suffer from low self-esteem.

VICTIM SUPPORT

Victim support is an essential part in the process of helping an individual return to their best. Very often those affected by crime are left to endure the consequences of their experience. For many, being able to explore the event and re-establish their boundaries and security in a safe environment can begin the process of recovery. This process will often involve supporting victims through difficult court procedures. Being able to understand the physical and emotional response to such event is best achieved in a therapeutic setting.

RELATIONSHIPS

Relationships require work, dedication, and commitment. Most relationships will go through ups and downs. However, it is always good to recognise when a relationship is not healthy or that the situation you find yourself in needs to be addressed.
